Conservatives must pay attention to and begin to accept the facts/trends or find themselves behind the curve politically & socially: The religiously unaffiliated are the fastest growing religious group in America. Islam is the fastest growing formal religion in America. There are now as many Muslims in the United States as there are in all of Western Europe (six+ million). There are more Muslims in the United States than there are Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Lutherans, or members of the United Church of Christ. It took a million years to produce the first billion people. Today’s world produces a billion people in thirteen years--two people per second. In the next forty years more people will be added to the earth than have been added in all history up to now. The USA represents about 4% of the world's population while consuming over 40% of the world's goods and energy. --Council of American Bishops (Catholic)
