Mea Culpa. Sitting in the tub, I remembered a passage from someone, somewhere, not so long ago.

This passage cited the limited duration of the human lifespan as creating a natural discount rate, which would exist even if our esteemed Central Bankers were able to achieve perfect price stability.

So the addition of Inflation to this natural discount rate inflames the problem. It isn't the sole cause.

Perhaps it is possible that the freezers (Debt/Equity) are not overflowing with fish (savings) yet, with today's catch being left to rot on the beach.

I hope that short circuit of the brain blew out some cobwebs....

Mark,

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I like the idea of a 200 lb. personal commuter vehicle. I somehow suspect that the SUV crowd sees things in a different light, however. They are the ultimate in the "distrust" crowd, surrounding themselves with tons of armoring to fight off the alien hordes....... on the L.A. freeways.

All the best, Ray
