I don't think it's unreasonable for society to legislate against late term abortions, although I would prefer that those decisions were made by the affected parties. My objection is primarily to the lack of an out for the health of the mother. The deformed infant's life is already ruined. Why ruin the that of the mother and the rest of the family, too. I don't see how anyone can call himself a human being and insist on that. That's just cruel.

Given all the rather nasty side effects attendant to having a severely deformed or abnormal child, it doesn't seem like an issue people with any compassion should make laws about.

Sorry, Stephen Hawking, you shouldn't have been allowed to live.

Of course, that position makes sense if you believe that people are just masses of protoplasm and have no souls, or divine spark, or other values inherent in them that go beyond their physical capabilities.

Defective products coming off the human assembly line should be tossed into the trash. Makes perfect sense if that is your world view.
