Bush went against his party principles to protect steelworkers. They might have saved their jobs... but only on a temporary basis. The end result is lost credibility when it comes to lecturing (legitimate) of other countries including China, India on trade protectionism. EU started imposing tarrif's of its own.

What Bush did was something democrats normally do. So don't rah rah this issue if you want conservative credentials intact.
