I used to read about WWII all I could when I was younger and did 4 years in the usmc infantry beginning at age 17. I remember back during the vietnam war, especially in its later years how they used to show our soldiers carrying kids, handing out candy. That certainly fostered feelings among the public that that war was being fought for all the right reasons, just like WWII. I don't remember it turning out that way. It took college kids rioting in the streets to get out of that war. lol I doubt that could happen now, not with the mushroom generation. I'm happy now that when we do get into more controversail wars, atleast they fight them to win. Most of the time anyway. Lets face it, we would do more for the war against terrorism by doing a few fly bys over those nuc. plants in Iran than we are doing over in Iraq. I think that war has us so stretched that we can't fund the completion of the war we certainly had reason to fight right now over in afganistan in either money or personell. The fact that pre war intellegence has turned out to be suspect along with no bid contracts for american firms and administration officials setting up there own private consulting companies to help american companies get contracts in iraq for a fee makes this war highly suspect to me. I voted for the boy, that wont be happening next year. Yeah, way back when they certainly were the greatest generation. Ofcourse, if you ignore a bunch of obvious facts that are staring you right in your face, you can kind of get that good ole feeling back right now.
