Trio Gold "TGK" had a big day yesterday. They are currently drilling a property in Nevada's Carlin trend.

There were a couple of very big buyers. Has anyone heard anything? I took a speculative position yesterday in part because of the increased volume and what that infers during a drilling campaign.

1. Brascan has always said that mining is not one of its core businesses. Even its holdings in Noranda will be divested "when the time is right". That being so, I don't think we should be surprised, nor should we infer anything negative from it.

2. When we first started discussing Northgate, there was a lot of negative comment about Brascan's association, some people commenting that "the market" will be disinterested in NGX BECAUSE of the Brascan association. That has now been removed.

3. However, I am curious about any change in the situation re the Gold hedges. Brascan was guaranteeing them and thus allowing the arrangement to be on a spot deferred basis. I wonder if the guarantees continue or whether the settlement of the hedges will no longer be deferable.

4 I am impressed at how quickly the market took up this secondary offering. I received a routine e-mail of its availability from TD but when I checked, the offering had already closed. Clearly, liquidity has been enhanced, and that is what the institutions like.

5 Now, who will state the negative case ? :>
