"The book does cover the subject," spokesman Stephen Goodwin told The Associated Press. "It's a very difficult subject." "I am a Soldier, Too: The Jessica Lynch Story" will be released by Knopf publishing Tuesday -- Veterans Day. Reporter Rick Bragg, who wrote the book, tells Lynch's story. Medical records cited in the book indicate that she was raped, the Daily News of New York reported in its Thursday editions. Officials have said Lynch, an Army private whose company was ambushed near the Iraqi town of Nasiriya, has no memory of her ordeal. Bragg wrote that Lynch lost three hours -- from the time the Humvee she was in crashed and including the torment her enemies inflicted on her after she was pulled from it. The book says the records don't tell whether Lynch's captors assaulted her broken body after removing her from the wreckage, or if they assaulted her and then broke her bones. Bragg declined to comment to the AP. Separately, ABC's "Good Morning America" host Diane Sawyer confirmed Thursday on the air that the book says Lynch was raped. Sawyer's interview with Lynch will air Tuesday in a special edition of ABC's "Primetime." Copyright 2003 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
