In all fairness, they did admit preknowledge of Oct sales
But with a PE around 30, is the weakness really priced in?


...Department-store retailer Kohl's (KSS: news, chart, profile) advanced $1.78, or 3.4 percent, to $54.15 after both Bernstein and US Bancorp Piper Jaffray upped their ratings to "outperform" from "market performer."

Both Bernstein's Emme Kozloff and Piper's Jeff Klinefelter noted that Kohl's is likely to report weak October sales results and lower quarterly earnings next month.

However, both felt that weak results -- Kohl's is backing up against strong comparisons a year ago -- are already priced into the stock. Conditions are expected to improve in the fourth quarter, making shares in the low-$50s a bargain.

"The stock's resilience during the last few days lends credence to the theory that the bad news is largely discounted in the current stock price," Kozloff wrote in a note. "The potential medium-term upside outweighs any short-term downside," she added. "The risk-reward equation argues for purchases at current levels." ...
