You have company, however. Read this excellent review of former Troskyite Irving Kristol, father of William.wpunj.edu I love a free and open democracy. The "sneak and peek" covert operators given free reign to all the elements of national power force all citizens to trust them by extortion. This is not American, it is encroaching totalitarianism that will be eventually worthy of Stalin. When they maintain thousands of covert actions secret beyond any reason to do so, and seek to reverse Congressionally-mandated disclosure of Presidential records, you have people with things to hide. This stinks. Anytime powerful people say, "Trust Me", it's time to check your wallet, and investigate their actions. Unfortunately, current law allows secrecy to be maintained by the very same perpetrators by extra-judicial means. You are wrong about Kermit & Co. actions in Iran, according to our own government officials, and need to get up to date with Colin Powell and ex-CIA director Woolsey, who both admitted these were "not something to be proud of". The Soviets had nothing to do with it. These were in fact massive crimes by a giddy secret elite, regardless of the excuses at the time. History does not look kindly on what was done there. The thesis of many of those you wrongly call "leftists" is that history will look likewise upon the preemptive invasion of Iraq. The real division is not between left/right or liberal/conservative, it is between freedom an command-and-control totalitarianism that has taken hold of our country. I hope your dreams come true. As it is, my fear is that our country in the hands of secretive operators, who like criminals everywhere, tell us, "just trust me!", while looting place and installing an oligarchy.
