Diverse Union Decides Dean Is Its Candidate
By JODI WILGOREN

ASHUA, N.H., Nov. 6 — One day after Howard Dean scrambled to stanch a controversy over his remarks about the Confederate flag, he secured a critical endorsement from the most diverse labor group in the country, the 1.6-million-member Service Employees International Union.

Dr. Dean, the Democratic former governor of Vermont, also learned on Thursday that the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, was likely to endorse him next week.

Dean is the man. If Kerry is going to do something, he had better do it soon. We are like what, maybe a few months away from the first primaries? Whew. Should Kerry lose NH, practically his own neighborhood, then it's be "Cya. Thanks for the ride - been nice."
