Speaking of diamonds, Mountain Province Diamonds (MPV - TSE) MPVI (OTC:BB) has moved strongly in the past couple of days. If you like this play also look at Camphor Ventures (CFV Candadian Venture Ex) who own a small piece of the same deposit. CFV is rather illiquid but on value it should trade at about 40% of MPV and it has remained substantially below that figure, a penalty I expect for the lower liquidity.

These companies have diamonds in economic quantities and a deal with DeBeers which will end up with a DeBeers take-over at some point, however you can expect DeBeers to play games in order to get them for the lowest possible price.

The problem with Canadian diamonds is that there are a lot of places with kimberlite and diamonds but few of them will ever be able to be developed into viable mines.

Personally I have tried to buy into proven diamond plays where an economic mine is likely, rather than the blue sky explorers and over the past few years I have traded Diamet, Aber, MPV and more recently MPV. I no longer have Diamet but still have long positions in the other three mentioned.
