Sounds like a big game to simply ensnare law abiding citizens to me in ridiculous technicalities that have no relationship whatsover to crime, violence, or even accidents for that matter. The FOID doesn't prevent crime, doesn't help solve crimes, it doesn't do anything. What retards in your state passed this and why are thy in office and not pumping gas at Exxon?

I read up the FOID. Its nearly completely useless and waaaaaay outdated. I see the FOID has been around since 1968. Now with the Federal requirements for NICS background checks, why in the hell do they need the FOID also? And get this, the FOID is good for 5 years, which means that if I become inelgible for a FOID after 1 year, I still have my FOID for the next 4 years. Great system! The real reason for the FOID is the $1000 the state gets if they ensnare the law abiding system who simply let their FOID at home. They just want your money under the guise of
"protecting the public".
