Have they started making walkers fashionable yet? I have a neat little collection of walking sticks - a shalleighllah (directly from Ireland), a nice piece of Arkansas hickory, (a little crude but very stout) an 1830s-40s stag-handled sword-cane (nice conversation piece, but I never leave the house with it, the law could construe it as a concealed weapon) and an unornamented brass-knobbed one, I like it for its simple elegance. For stepping out in style I prefer the brass-knobbed, looks good and you never know if you'll have to bop a ne'er do well whilst out for an evening sauntére...
