So it was a war to prevent weapons of mass destruction in the future - not a war because of an immenent threat from such weapons in the present.

hey found ongoing research facilities and the means to rev up production upon short notice. Do you mean that Iraqi scientists were really planning on working in buried cargo containers in the parking lots of the buildings that they expected to be bombed. Don't you think that perhaps, just perhaps, they were trying to keep their ordinary run of the mill microscopes and glass beakers and other high school quality equipment from being smashed by a two thousand pounder?
