"Seems she did question the wisdom of allowing a crippled child to live if the parents wanted a PBA, and that she saw the death of a crying baby smothered by its mother in an extreme situation (war)as justifiable."

Yes, she may have said those things--I don't know without looking back. I am sure she has no problem in defending the things she DID say.

I think your last post has been (on the whole) somewhat helpful.

Suicide and assisted suicide (to prevent "a fate worse than death") have been natural and heroic acts of human courage ever since recorded history. If this is what Karen was referring to, then I am in complete agreement. If it was not what she was referring to, then I might or might not be in agreement.

How about you? Would you kill a loved one to prevent their falling into the hands of a merciless and sadistic enemy? How about a total stranger like myself--if I asked you to shoot me as I sprawled wounded in the desert with the Taliban all around me? Would you have enough compassion for a stranger to save me from a humiliating and agonizing end? If you find yourself lingering over the mental picture...then I am perhaps not the best example to put before you... :-)
