Joan, The increase in copper production has not hurt copper prices for much the same reason increased silver production has coexisted with higher silver prices: China is buying. India is buying. The new middle class over there is making money on their American jobs and both countries have huge populations who love jewelry. The increase in these jobs for the loss of American jobs, and Americans are jewelry poor in the middle class, is a plus for demand.
