Re: When asked about anti-Semitism in Europe, Soros, who is Jewish, said European anti-Semitism is the result of the policies of Israel and the United States. “There is a resurgence of anti-Semitism in Europe. The policies of the Bush administration and the Sharon administration contribute to that,” Soros said. “It’s not specifically anti-Semitism, but it does manifest itself in anti-Semitism as well.

How come a sophisticated observer such as G. Soros can't tell anti-Semitism from anti-ZIONISM??? There is a resurgence of anti-ZIONISM, and deservedly so.

Filomore,

"Soros, who is Jewish, said European anti-Semitism is the result of the policies of Israel and the United States."

You and Soros, have it wrong. Israel's policies are the 'excuse' that the antisemites use to reinvigorate their blind hatred of jews. Israel doesn't cause antisemitism. The antisemites are already there. They've always been there predating the Nazis by hundreds of years.

Unfortunately, Soros is one of those idealistic addled liberals who doesn't understand that if Israel doesn't react to terrorism the terrorists will see it as a sign of weakness and become even bolder. Peace will come to the middle east when the Palestinians are willing to negotiate in good faith.

If you don't believe me ask your bud 'Gustave', he doesn't care one whit about peace in the region. He wants the fighting to continue until the Jewish state no longer exists.

Intereting remark from Soros (note that he addressed the issues to a Jewish group but not the general public).

>>“I’m also very concerned about my own role because the new anti-Semitism holds that the Jews rule the world,” said Soros, whose projects and funding have influenced governments and promoted various political causes around the world. “As an unintended consequence of my actions,” he said, “I also contribute to that image.”<<

I think Soros has a complex mind on the issue himself. On one hand, he said European anti-Semitism is the result of the policies of Israel and the United States and the Jewish group behaviors(including his own activities). Which showed his rational side. On the other hand, his other remarks and actions (his shady way to profit in European and Asian financial markets and his supporting remarks for the politically ambitious Russian tycoon Khodorkovsky just several days ago, for example) showed his opposite side.

Soros seems to see the Jewish extremists are moving in a dangerous direction, and he tries to alarm them. But at the same time he doesn't seem to be able to refrain from doing the similar things for himself. His brain is wrestling with his heart, IMO.
