I was ready to go, would have served gleefully, but I didn't get called. Further, I wanted to be an aviator, but didn't meet the vision requirement.

The difference between people like you and people like me is that I think it's a privilege to serve one's country, while you think that as an American one is privileged to decide whether or not to serve one's country. Both statements may be true, but it displays one's values and attitude.

Btw, I have been heavily involved in military auxiliary, civic, and local volunteer and government matters for over the past 30 years. No shirking on my part.
