Hong Kong's Victor Li Invests C$650 Mln in Air Canada

Nov. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Victor Li, son of Asia's richest businessman, beat Cerberus Capital Management LP to buy a 31 percent stake in Air Canada for C$650 million ($486 million), an investment that will help the carrier emerge from bankruptcy.

Victor Li will fund the purchase personally or use assets of the family of his father Li Ka-shing, who owns the world's biggest port operator and invests in telecommunications, property and drug stores. Creditors with claims of as much as C$10 billion will get a stake of about 56 percent in Canada's largest airline, Montreal-based Air Canada said in a statement.
