To John Kerry, massacres in Vietnam were a real and disturbing thing. No, he didn't take part in any, as Bob Kerrey did, but he certainly saw some of it and also saw his friends and brothers dying. He also saw the lies the policy-makers in DC were feeding the public, the inflated body-counts and so forth. That is why Kerry protested the war after he got out and he was right.

Right-wingers to tear down Kerry and other war heros who happen to be democrats are the worst of the worst. They criticize Kerry for not taking serious wounds, but they also tore down Max Cleland the triple amputee and called him less than patriotic too. These new breeds of harsh right-winger are real fleas on the dog of America. They suck the blood and bite, but they contribute nothing. What we need in 2004 is a big flea bath.
