Clark may sweep the southern primaries. That alone will be enough to block a first ballot Dean victory, that is assuming Kerry doesn't catch fire, and don't assume that yet. Gephardt is still a factor too. Dean has two unions behind him. So does Kerry. Gephardt has 20.

Scott,

There are some admirable characteristics to Wesley Clark's rhetoric. In contrast to the awful pandering that Al Sharpton, Kerry and Edwards engaged in on the Confederate flag non-issue, Clark came up with a terrific, diplomatic and statesmanlike statement:

"And with all of the rhetoric following rival candidate Howard Dean's remark about owners of pickup trucks with Confederate flags, a television reporter asked Clark to weigh in on that subject.

"The flag I care about is the American flag," Clark said. "It's the flag I was proud to serve under... . It's the flag I brag about all over the world."

"We've got to emphasize what in America pulls us together. We have so much in common. ... People are struggling in this country. They're struggling for jobs, for health care and for good education for our kids."

"We've got to stop worrying about symbols. Let the old pass. Let's look at the future. It's ripe with promise."

Bravo, Gen. Clark! Spoken like a true leader. (And sensible partisan.)
