Friedland made big money for dfr.v shareholders, and that's what he's known for now, not for efforts of substance like being an MC at Woodstock or establishing an impressive toxic waste dump on top of a mountain .... no, he's known mainly for filthy lucre alone, 4.3 billions loonies of it if memory serves ...... people are funny that way, make em money and they'll remember you for it .... Inco shareholders got a less satisfying orgasm out of Voisey's, well that'll teach em to buy the dfr.v share next time, lol .... so i think it's possible that anything you may be able to contribute to the man's notoriety will only augment this effect, really .... he's a promoter first and always, that's widely known, of course as with any outfit you have to line up statements with facts as they unfold and compare to get a handle on that abstract we call 'truth'

Ivanhoe Mines, ivn.to, is grossly overvalued at the moment, imho .... that's the Friedland/Calandra effect in action, heavy promotion that happened to coincide with China being flavour of the month .... there's probably a mine there, very big mine quite possibly, thing is how economic is it, and political risk of the locale, how much dilution to develop, how long will it take, all those boring details in which there be monsters

This thing of Calandra having positions in stocks he touts, i have mixed feelings about that ... on the one hand it's quite reasonable and maybe desirable that he put his money where his mouth is ... we all do that, talk our book, nothing wrong with it ..... however, if i was his employer and running a big network, i'd maybe see it differently, maybe prohibit him from trading at all, or within ninety days of mentioning any ticker, or something, for the sake of appearances ....no - restrict him to only holding/touting shares of my network, that's what -g- ... cheers
