Just posting what businesspeople and entrepreneurs think of Bush out here. He is hugely unpopular, hated even. I'm glad Dean and Kerry are dumping the federal matching on donations because I think they will be awash in Cash from California business. AS- Kerry is dumping the federal matching, no? Stressing that "the vast majority of businessmen and businesswomen are honest" and that reforms "should demand integrity, without stifling innovation and economic growth," Bush said that his proposals "should be welcomed by every honest company in America." But if Bush's initiatives were surgically directed at business crooks, while leaving honest businessmen free, we should have experienced a year of vigorous business activity and economic success. Instead, we have experienced a year of business stagnation and economic disappointment. Businessmen are, in the words of former General Electric Co. chief Jack Welch, "hunkering down." They are investing less money in new technologies, manufacturing plants, and research and development. They are reluctant to enter mergers, formulate new strategies, take risks -- and our economy is suffering as a result.
