Brilliant post. I had not read about the prisoners on the fire lines- but that sort of reminds me of China, and their prison labor (which we are shocked! shocked! about!!!! How could China DO that? oh wait- how could we do that?) The War on Drugs should be declared lost, and put in the trash can with other wonderful ideas like prohibition. It's clear it's lost. The only question is, "How long will we continue to fight a war we have no chance of winning?" That question comes in handy for other situations as well.
