GE has stockholders, and the stockholders have annual meetings, and if they didn't like what Welch was doing they could have removed him at any time.

Welch's financial antics were not made public until after he left.

As far as I know, if a corporation's shareholders want to pay Welch $500 million a year that is their prerogitve. As it should be.

Yes, noblesse oblige is the order of the day.
