Joan Kroc just gave 200 million to NPR. Or was it PBS? McDonalds guilt? Post-mortem of course. I think she just died. God bless her. Now if they'd just hire some entertaining hosts.

Laura,

Re: Who controls NPR, Ray? Do we know? Political appointees?

There is a corporate board that is beholden to the contributors. Keep in mind that the Annenberg Foundation, a key contributor, is controlled by a very right wing family.
The latest grant of $200 Million from Joan Kroc, the widow of Ray Kroc, founder of MacDonald's will probably mean that the program will become even more corporate friendly. By my calculation, the hosts on various programs are overwhelmingly already to the right-of-center politically and overwhelmingly pro-Israel. We'll never get fair and accurate coverage of the Middle East from NPR.
