Frank,
It is zealotry I am most concerned about with this democracy rhetoric. A stable iraq does not have to be democratic in our sense of the word. It does need to be constitutional, and representative of all groups in the country but that doesnt necessarily translate into one man/one vote. When I think about the core of our democracy, many times i think more of the Bill of Rights than I do of elections. The pro-democratic rhetoric of Bush worries me more than the hard headed assessments of some of the neocons and realists. New world order lingo worries the hell out of me. Terrorists and assorted mideast bad guys need to go, but we can have evolution in countries like Egypt, not destabilizing revolution. And after this weekends attack and probably the next one that comes today, I would include even the Saudis in this as well. Mike
