>>>Bush Sr. did it right during the Gulf War, but his son was an amateur following the advice of hard-line oil-grabbers.<<<

Pretty much Bush's only job is to keep the Christian right firmly in the GOPwinger column, plus some photo-ops. The NRA is always deep in the GOP bag and top dog income scoundrals will always vote to keep what's in their wallets. And the media will report according to its advertising base and need for inside connectivity.

Together, the above is a demographic base sufficient to win the electoral college, so long as half the people don't vote and enough independents can be sucked in with tactics of fear and deception.

Frankly, I think the only degree to which Bush is involved in this Iraq war is to the extent that he's been convinced by his insiders that he'll be viewed well in history for winning it and helping to change the landmark of the MidEast. That he'll be viewed as Top Crusader, and his holy grail will be dipped deep in the Bush family tradition of oil.

I think history will treat Bush very cruel, as it should. And I further think that no landmark change in the MidEast will happen until there is a regime change in the US, coming from the ballot box.

Each and every one of us should do all possible in order to get that half who don't vote to actually register and show up on election day. Were this to happen, assuming no GOPwinger special ops hanky-panky, overall public sentiment should be enough to deny Bush-Cheney a second term.
