If not, then you're really not taking the position of abortion as a fall back, but are accepting abortion as a primary means of birth control. Please choose.

I am taking the position of abortion as a fall back. I recognize that some people are not so responsible and will use abortion as a primary means of birth control. That doesn't mean that I'm advocating anything other than what I say I'm advocating. I think it would be wrong of them to do that, but I couldn't stop it even if I wanted to. It could be mitigated but not eliminated. With any system, there is baggage. The only practical alternative is to make all abortion illegal. Which is your position. And I've already told you what's wrong with that.

Your expectations for the behavior of teenagers is every bit as unrealistic as you claim mine is.

I didn't have in mind teenagers. Teenagers will be irresponsible no matter what system we put in place. I had in mind that married couple I mentioned, the one that already has their two kids and isn't prepared to have any more. Or the couple that discovers some ugly genes and decides against children. These are the couples who, under your system, would have to stop having sex. That's the baggage that comes with your system. Not to mention the health and societal effects of all those unwanted children. And all those people denied love and intimacy in their lives. And all the horny people going around snarling at the world, taking their aggressions out on others.

I'll take my baggage over your baggage any day.

I acknowledge my baggage. I don't see you doing that.

One further point. If we were to outlaw abortions, then I think as part of that deal, the state would have to accept all unwanted babies. Making the woman complete the pregnancy is one thing. You could call that her punishment or her bad luck. But it's a horrible idea for the state to expect her to raise it if she doesn't want to. Not only is that too much to impose on her, it is the beginning of myriad other societal problems. The state should take the baby off her hands if that's what she wants.
