Valid points, although IVAN's licensed GTL technology is not without other legitimate supporters. Given the high barriers to entry with this technology, who's to really say that motivated third parties won't bankroll future IVAN/SYNM GTL projects? CONSTRUCTION COMPLETE ON SYNTROLEUM, MARATHON, DOE GTL PLANT October 13, 2003 Octane Week Construction of Syntroleum, Marathon and the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) joint venture gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in Tulsa, Okla., is complete, the partners announced. The plant will go on stream early in November, sending its 70 b/d of GTL diesel capacity to test fleets in Washington, D.C., and Denali National Park in Alaska. The plant was designed and constructed under DOE's Ultra-Clean Fuels program, at a cost of about $52 million, including construction and operation costs, the partners said. The plant employs Syntroleum's cobalt-based slurry bed GTL process.
