" If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?" -- David Ben Gurion

"It is not true that Arabs hate Jews for personal, religious, or racial reasons. They see us, rightly from their point of view, as Westerners, foreigners, and even invaders who seized and Arab country to create a Jewish state...Since we are obliged to achieve our aims against the wishes of the Arabs, we must live in a permanent war." -- Moshe Dayan

" If the PA was run by civilized people with whom one could discuss this setup.. "

Well, I'm sure there is enough blame to go around for everybody.

The problem is that neither side was willing to compromise, and since Arafat was made to hold up in his Ramalla bunker after Israel nearly blew him away, there was little chance he would be much good at anything resembling peace.

We discussed some time ago the implications of taking out Arafat, and I warned specifically that to do so would leave the vacuum currently present and allow the extremists to gain influence. You argued that point ( like you argue ALL of my points heh heh ),only to see this unfold exactly as I predicted.

Anyway..I have to go.

Nice arguing with you again. ;-)
