In the mean time a lot of guns just means a lot of petty crime and accidents.

You somehow missed the 2.5 million times gun owners used firearms to defend themselves last year. See Dr. John Lott. But you are more interested in victimizing those 2.5 million people in your futile attempts to save 900 from accidents and believe that the guns talked to their owners and convinced them to commit 500,000 violent crimes last year. You also somehow missed that the "them" was disarmed by the Nazis beginning in 1938 and had no way to fight back. The Rwandans had no way to fight back. The Cambodians had no way to fight back either. The list goes on and on. George Washington's Army had a means to fight back.

Define petty crime. Because I believe that the "petty crime" rate in the United States is probably lower than several (if not many) Western European Countries/industrialized countries.
