Bush's trade secretary Don Evans was on the Lou Dobbs show last night and when the issue of free trade and jobs came up, Evan's response was something like- "this US economy is a jobs creation machine, other nations marvel at it, in the last 10 years we have created 16 million jobs...."

Lou Dobbs stopped him and asked if he was taking credit for jobs created in the Clinton administration (which of course he was). Evans said he was making a general statement, Dobbs laughed.

The Bush staff is just incapable of dealing with complex issues like the trade vs. labor problem, it seems to me.
