Nonesense, You are trying to apply logic where only prejudice applies. The reason for the ratings is that, that is what these guys (I do not believe that there are any gals) do. They will not see anything that they do not want to see. It really is that simple.

Lizzie,

this fab financing is the entire issue for all the underweight ratings don't you think? I think the stock knows about this and is discounting it.

I think the underweight ratings are mainly related to the fact that analysts are slow to catch on the Opteron and MirrorBit phenomena, and the fact that AMD is executing well currently.

The Fab is probably a tangential issue for them, because if they are right and AMD is not going anywhere, there will be need for fab and hence no fab, if AMD is going places, fab financing will not be that difficult.

I think the stock knows about this and is discounting it.

Maybe to some extent, but since the details are still unknown (alone or with a partner, 100%, 50/50 etc) I am not sure how the discounting should be applied.

Also, possible Sun announcement is another variable in stock valuation as far as when, the magnitude of the commitment, volume etc.
