It would be horrid if they were forced to get one. Equally horrid is to force the prochoice person who does not want a child (or the antiabortion person who suddenly is faced with an unwanted pregnancy) to carry a child. Children are horrid if you don't want them, and our foster care system is overloaded, so it's not as if it's easy to get rid of them. People don't want to spend money on educating children, and they don't want to spend money raising unwanted children either- and to top that off, foster care and state homes don't do a good job raising children anyway. The current situation is the best of all possible worlds- the only people desperately unhappy are the people who want to control other people's lives, by denying them a choice, and saving all the unwanted fetuses in the world- and it is always good when those people are unhappy- it means government is on the right track, and is staying out of the field. Some problems are good problems. When your true believing religiously motivated control freaks are unhappy, that's a good thing. This is a glass half full, imo. I really think the world would be a much better place if those folks obsessed with fetuses would go out and help already born children. There is plenty of abuse and neglect to the already born, and we do damn little about it. I think people who have the time to be outraged about fetuses ought to be working 24/7 to save those precious already born people. Of course that won't happen, but still, it ought to- maybe there should be a law forcing them to.......
