I think that there is a genuine friendship and mutual respect between the two. Jerry has an enormous ego (You know, male testosterone crap) but, though it would mean that Ruiz is better than him, Jerry did hand pick him and side with him in skirmishes that could have taken him out. Jerry now owns AMD common that he bought in the open market where he only sold shares in the past. I suspect that making money may overweigh some small envy issue on his part.

Also, Jerry has largely shut up. Something very new for him.
