Nadine, I look at history and learn the British empire was built on the concept of "divide and rule". It is the uncanny ability of the British to apply this policy, that helped them to conquer countries and situations to achieve their goals.

The current US administration, I would think, has goals other than winning the war against terrorism. For if that was their goal, then the opportunity waits right at heir door step. While Osama and his folks use the rallying cry of jihad to unite, the US administration can exploit the divisions that exist such as the divide between the Shias and the Sunnis, etc. etc.

The basic difference between the current administration and previous administrations is that the current one believes that only bullets win war. Unlike previous administrations, they have to realize the potential of propaganda and intelligence as a tool which can also win wars.
