There's a reason Buchanan will never be elected President: He's dumber than George Bush.

I start a coconut business in Idaho. Greenhouse, heated, artificial light of course. Costs me $300/coconut. You, Costa Rica, have to sell your coconuts at not less than $85 apiece. You, of course, love this and are hardly going to protest.

Who gets screwed? The American consumer.

If we flood our market with cheap engineers, we will lose our "engineering industry".
Um, well, you can do precisely that: Let India educate them, then we give them green cards and they work here building US industry.

. In other words, Bermuda can sell oranges to the US and compete against US farmers but they need to price their wares within 15% of US pricing on the same goods. That is how this is achieved, right or wrong.

This is quite possibly the stupidest tariff scheme ever proposed.

So I take it you are infavor of trashing NAFTA and the WTO?

, Japan inc has a monopoly and raises prices.
Remember OPEC. They tried this.

Worked short term, too.

What happened long term?
