what is the best way to get a pc to load up faster?

If you are running XP, try shutting down with Hibernate. You don't need to shutdown your running programs. When you start your computer next time, it will boot very quickly, and you can resume right where you left off.

I only do a complete shutdown once a week, as part of a maintenance routine that scans disks.
