Though I am not sure I have thought it all the way through, so reserve the right to change my mind.

Of course. You're a woman! <bg>

Hey, as long as we're tossing stereotypes into the kettle today, why leave any out??

My proposal makes absolute sense as far as the adults are concerned. But the reason it will never fly is that it may not be good for the child never to have a father, or to be cut off from the father's financial support. The mother may think she can support the baby by herself, but if she gets sick, or loses her job, guess who steps in?

So the legislatures will never give the father the same right the mother has to choose to be or not to be the parent. She gets to choose for him, and that's the way it is, and I fear that's the way it will always be.

Who ever said life was fair??
