As a homebuyer, the internet has greatly simplified my search process. I can "browse" homes for sale without having to go to a realtor at my leisure. More and more properties have "virtual walkthroughs" that allow you to see the whole house - so you can know if you're interested before you go.
As a homeseller, the internet makes my home available to more potential buyers than if one agency "hoards" the listing.
I would think that it would even help the realtor, by cutting down on the showings of properties that the buyer wasn't interested in.
I think this is just another example of a buggy-whip mentality on the part of realtors.
