Dean only has 16% in the latest national poll. Undecideds lead the pack and Dean's lead is within the margin of error.

The media is making a big deal about him having the anti-war vote to himself, but the reality is he hasn't won a single vote yet. Gephardt has four times as many union members behind him yet it's the big story when dean gets two endorsements. Kerry also has two unions behind him. Gephardt got his 21st today and the press didn't report it.

Kerry has a good chance of coming back to beat Dean in New Hampshire if he gets his act together and stays focused.
Only a fool looking at dean and Kerry would vote for Dean if they want to beat Bush.

If Dean still leads after a few primaries, don't be surprised if Al Gore gets back into the race. The party leadership does not want hm anywhere near the nomination.

Much of Dean's popularity is due to the crowded field in the middle and Bush's obvious failures and dishonesty vis a vis Iraq. Dean can claim he's the only major anti-war candidate. So he gets that 20% of so of dems who are passionately anti-war, plus a few other liberal groups.

Of course he did not have to make the difficult choice to vote yes or no on a very complex issue. Dean has really gotten a free ride so far, but his main hurdles lie ahead. The meia has not dealt with such issues as Dean's total lack of experience in foreign affairs and his almost certain un-electability. BTW: the same unions who endorsed Dean endorsed Bill Bradley last time.
