That was an excellent article. Thank you. I got a lot out of it- the Algerian prism POV especially. It's unfortunate that the French are so unlikably condescending and arrogant, since they seem to have been right about this. It makes it very difficult for people to get beyond the manner to the substance. Of course, we have our own set of arrogant leaders turning the world against us. Diplomacy seems to be a lost art.
It makes me think of Adam's irritation at Franklin in Paris. His style of diplomacy didn't charm Adams at all, but seemed to work great with the French.

I give up- unlikably must not be a word. No matter how I spell it it shows up red. I hereby ordain it a word.
