Thoughtful post...

It is not that it excludes the opinion of anyone...but that it ultimately affirms a particular authority of right.

You know--reasonable people are pained by the very thought of termination of potential human beings. We have that silly bias built into our genetic code. However, we are steadied by the recognition that Nature terminates millions of potential humans every day. And we are warned by history that fundamental rights must be equal and absolute if they are to be based on other than the whims of privilege. Therefore, although we deplore abortion, we seek to modify it through education and technology--rather than through the expedient of making one gender sub-human in terms of rights. I do not see any rational alternative. Society must not countenance hyphenated people...

It hasn't been fair for hundreds of years for women.

Or for men.

We are still working it all out- and will probably still be at it a hundred years from now.

Make that a thousand, and I think you're still safe.
