The way to do galvanic protection is to charge the body negative, but not to have current flow or very much current. Right now, the negative pole of the battery is attached to the frame, but current flows through it to the electrics and back to the positive pole. (this is correct as current actually flows, or electrons travel from negative to positive.) If one bypassed the flow, led all current back flow to the positive pole through an isolated or insulated bussbar, and all negative flow out from the battery through another bussbar, then the attachment of the voltage of the battery to the vehicle would have a more salutory effect in preventing corrosion. This is because what current flow took place would not bypass the precipitant elements in going back to the battery, but would charge them directly. As it is now, the flow of current through the electrics aids corrosion as any oxidizing element has a path of current flow towards the positive pole.

Each iron metal atom that corrodes can shed an electron towards the positive pole of the battery since the body is not isolated from current flow. This cause corrosion in the body. Disconnect your battery's positive pole and corrosion will stop.

The trouble with the sacrificial anode concept is that it is not in a solution, in a vehicle. Perhaps if one put the magnesium block in a weak saline solution, of brackish water, and put a lead on the body, it would help.
