I think you're just seeing the beginnings of "Hate Bush" and "Hate GOP" from frustrated writers of all stripes. That's the problem with a Democracy -- you can only keep people down for so long. I agree about the Palast's view of the Dems as well: "Ultimately, there's just something a bit pathetic in watching invertebrates trying to take a stand." Here's the rest of his amusing post:gregpalast.com WHY THE GOP IS TOTALLY WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING The I Hate Republicans Reader: Why the GOP is Totally Wrong About Everything Thursday Nov 13, 2003 Look, as a journalist, I don't like saying, "I hate Republicans." In fact, I don't mind if people are Republicans in the privacy of their own bedrooms. It's just the ones that flaunt it in public, the raging, flaming ones, that give me the creeps. This week, Thunder's Mouth Press released "The I Hate Republicans Reader: Why the GOP is Totally Wrong About Everything," which includes an article of mine about how the Bush family brought democracy to Florida as they have to Iraq I must put on the record, however, my concern about the book's title. My problem with saying, "I hate Republicans" is that someone might think I have a thing for Democrats. Yes, I'll admit I've looked at the magazines and maybe perused their websites -- just out of curiosity, mind you -- but I always come away disappointed. Ultimately, there's just something a bit pathetic in watching invertebrates trying to take a stand. (Nor do I have a taste for inedible Greens.) The honorable Congresswoman Katherine Harris has written, "Greg Palast is twisted and maniacally partisan." That's not nice. That's not fair. Katie, if the Democrats ever stumble back to office, then I'll turn my spy-glass their way. Until then, as to Democrats, let's let sleeping dogs lie and lying dogs sleep. In the meantime, lie back, think of England, and enjoy this non-partisan expose of the Republican Party's putsch in the Sunshine State.
