Lorne, I am with Dennis O'Bell on the need for Islamic reform. I do not believe Islam is either entirely foolish nor do I think it is any more anti-freedom than many other systems (you may note that there are those who do not think modernity leaves much room for freedom either). You will never be able to destroy Islam, just as Judaism was not destroyed. But what you can do is encourage the needed reforms. Fortunately Islam has plenty of foundation for accepting these reforms. It will be this Islamic Renaissance that will destroy fundamentalist Islam and not any military force.
