...I can distinguish between quality of people. I didn't always agree with all of Riordan's politics but I knew I was dealing with an honest, capable person and felt comfortable voting for him. Ditto for Bush I. I don't feel that comfort with an Issa......nor Bush II.

How can campaign finance laws distinguish between "honest capable people" spending money and "shady self interested" people? It can't. You can't apply the law different because of the personality or political leaning of the person campaigning (for office or for a political idea).

I agree.........lets have real campaign reform and not this lame attempt at reform.

It is as Tenchusatsu said. You like Soros, or at least you think he is honest and decent. You don't like Bush Jr. or Issa. Personally I don't want to limit how much any of them can spend but if you are going to have some sort of limit is has to apply to everyone.

Sorry but if you can't see the difference in the approach of the two......Issa vs Soros, I can't help you. The way I determine the quality of an act or performance is based on my own past experiences and values, and not partisan politics.

Based on my experiences and values, Issa is a sleazeball. And I don't have to like some one to respect him or her. I don't particularly like McCain or his politics but I respect him. I neither like nor respect Bush and Issa. I have found my instincts to be rather solid in this arena.
