I haven't followed it closely because it seems to me to be just a boring industry consolidation issue. The software market is maturing and slowing down, SAP controls a big slice of the pie in apps, PeopleSoft moved to acquire JD Edwards, and Larry Ellison moved in foaming at the mouth. Big slug fest.
