What has been the growth rate of the financial assets, taking out the late 1990s with all the IPOs ?

There isn't any easy way to extract 'IPOs' from equities. Doing so would take more time than I have at the moment. However, consider the portion of equities to total financial assets, then consider IPO's in relation to total equities already in existing. Might be immaterial.

28563.3 1 Total financial assets

10234.5 6 Securities (13,14, & various flavors of bonds)

5007.2 13 Corporate equities (2)
2912.2 14 Mutual fund shares

(below contain some equity mix per footnote)
935.4 15 Private life insurance reserves
1627.7 16 Private insured pension reserves
3873.1 17 Private noninsured pension reserves
3101.8 18 Govt. insurance and pension reserves
858.4 19 Investment in bank personal trusts

12676.3 21 Total liabilities =
6867.2 22 Mortgage debt on nonfarm homes 3970.3 +
1514.3 23 Other mortgage debt (3) +
1925.1 24 Consumer credit +
106.6 25 Policy loans +
246.3 26 Security credit +
2017.0 27 Other liabilities (3) +

(2) Directly held and those in closed-end and exchange-traded funds. Other equities are included in mutual funds (line 14), life insurance and pension reserves (lines 15, 16, 17, and 18), and bank personal trusts (line 19).

(3) Includes corporate farms.
